City of Pearsall issued the following announcement.

In accordance with Section 3.09 of the Charter for the City of Pearsall, Texas, the City Council of the City of Pearsall is seeking qualified applicants for consideration for appointment to the vacant City Council Place 1 and Place 5 positions.

Said vacancies shall be filled by a majority vote of the remaining Councilmembers and shall serve only until the next general City election.

Qualifications, in addition to those prescribed by law, shall include the following:

• Be a resident of the City of Pearsall, Texas for at least one year prior to the date of appointment,
• Must be a registered voter,
• Be at least 21 years old on the date of appointment,
• Must reside with the City during his or her term of office, and
• Shall not be in arrears in the payment of any ad valorem taxes or other obligations, such as utility payments, citations or permits, due to the City.

Interested persons may request an application from the City Clerk at 215 South Ash Street, Pearsall, Texas. The deadline to apply will be close of business, 4:30 PM on March 16, 2020.
