Alamo Colleges issued the following announcement on April 17.
The Alamo Colleges District and its family of colleges—Northeast Lakeview College, Northwest Vista College, Palo Alto College, St. Philip’s College and San Antonio College—have, like everyone around the globe, been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This has caused the district and college to make some difficult decisions to ensure the health and safety of our community. Finds out more about our operational changes at www.alamo.edu/coronavirus. Even in these unprecedented times, the district’s mission is unchanged: to remain focused on student success and access, putting students first and empowering the community.
For many of our students, making ends meet while balancing classes, job and family can be overwhelming at the best of times. Many students were already struggling with food and housing insecurity and financial instability. The COVID-19 crisis adds new burdens and directly impacts students’ ability to remain in college.
To support our students through this crisis, Alamo Colleges District has established a COVID-19 Student Impact Fund to provide emergency resources for students who need temporary assistance so they can:
• Buy groceries
• Pay rent or utility bills
• Access technology needed to support remote learning
• Pay healthcare expenses
• Make up for lost wages
These hardships students are experiencing are temporary, but the value of an education lasts forever.
Make a gift today!
Those who are in a position to help students adapt to this new financial reality are encouraged to make a gift today. The help of caring community members will make a world of difference to the success of Alamo Colleges District’s students.
