Frio Regional Hospital issued the following announcement on April 27.
Frio Regional Hospital is expanding its health care footprint in South Texas with the opening of the Frio Regional Primary Care and Urgent Care Clinic in Dilley.
Located at 801 W. Highway 117, the clinic opened April 27, 2020. Hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monica Martinez is clinic administrator. Seven new jobs have been created at the new facility.
"The opening of our new clinic further exemplifies the commitment of Frio Regional Hospital to serving residents in Dilley and Pearsall as well as in Frio and surrounding counties," said John Hughson, CEO at Frio Regional Hospital. "The clinic is an additional access point within the community that offers more convenient and less expensive treatment options. Residents now have quick access to primary care for adults and children with urgent care treatment available for minor injuries."
"Due to the continued COVID-19 related concerns, we will use telemedicine for those patients who are exhibiting symptoms and for those patients whose needs to not require an in-person visit," said Hughson. "We will schedule patients who need to be seen in the clinic, and they should call 830-326-3171 for an appointment."
Thomas Grimert, Chief Financial Officer for the hospital, spearheaded the project. "The clinic is the result of the expansion of the Frio Hospital District boundary, which began with voting in late 2017," he explained. "With the expansion, leaders in the county and the hospital district made better health care for area residents a priority. It was a true win-win situation that will impact the community for years to come."
Services offered at the new clinic include quick primary care access, adult and pediatric services and treatment of minor injuries, along with women's health services, gynecological care, and family planning. X-rays, lab services, physicals, immunizations and disease management assistance are also available. Health screenings, one-on-one patient education and wellness and prevention efforts are part of the new clinic.
The 5,600-square-foot facility includes six exam rooms in addition to a procedure/treatment room, an x-ray room and space for laboratory and pharmacy services. O'Connell Robertson of San Antonio is project architect. Construction company for the new clinic is Summit Building and Design of Laredo.
