Alamo Colleges issued the following announcement on May 14.
Three of the colleges of the Alamo Colleges District have been recognized as winners of the 2020 Most Promising Places to Work in Community Colleges (PPWCC) award, a national honor presented to community colleges across the country by the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) and Diverse: Issues in Higher Education. Northwest Vista College (NVC) and Northeast Lakeview College (NLC) both received the award for the second time; NVC previously won in 2018; NLC was recognized in 2019.
The award recognizes Northeast Lakeview College's (NLC) best-in-class student and staff recruitment and retention practices, inclusive learning and working environments and meaningful community service and engagement opportunities. All three colleges were also recognized for their exceptional commitment to diversity (including race/ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability, age, class, veterans, and thought).
"Thank you to the NLC administrators, faculty, and staff, for their continued dedication to our ultimate goal of student success, "said Dr. Veronica Garcia, NLC president. "Congratulations to all NLC employees. You truly make NLC shine."
The list of winning colleges will be printed in the May 16 issue of Diverse: Issues in Higher Education.
