Last week, the City of Pleasanton officially announced their Reopening Plan for city facilities.
As of press time Tuesday evening, Pleasanton reported no active cases of COVID-19 within the city limits. In total, there are nine cases with eight recovered and one death.
“For a city of our size, that’s really good,” said Pleasanton Mayor Travis Hall. “Everyone has been doing what they can to slow the spread of COVID 19.”
The Reopening Plan includes guidelines and opening dates for the pool, river park, sports complex, Civic Center, municipal court, library and museum as follows:
Pool
The city pool opened on Monday, June 1 to pool parties of no more than 50 people. This includes swimmers and non-swimmers. Other guidelines for the city pool include:
• Each attendee will be required to sign in
• No swim lessons at this time
Water aerobics classes started on Monday, June 1. They will be held Monday- Thursday at 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. at the city pool.
“Our biggest concern is the safety of the children and young people, so we have decided to watch our numbers for another 30 days to see how we do,” said Mayor Hall. “We don’t want to open the park back up too soon and then come down with more cases.”
Outdoor fitness classes were also allowed to commence on June 1 as well as sports fields rentals except for the Pleasanton River Park.
The softball recreational league will begin on Sunday, June 21.
Civic Center
Main hall rentals at the Pleasanton Civic Center are now open and limited to civic and non-profit groups of 50 people or less. Meeting room rates will apply to main hall rentals. Other guidelines include:
• Each person must sign in upon entry
• Meeting room will remain closed
Zumba classes began Monday and will be held Mondays and Wednesdays at 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. inside the civic center.
Municipal Court
The Pleasanton Municipal Court is now open to the public with only one person allowed to be in the lobby at a time. Court hearings will remain suspended until further notice.
Pleasanton Public Library
The Pleasanton Public Library is limited to 30 people inside at a time. All patrons are required to sign in upon entry. The children’s area will remain closed as well as the study rooms. Only half of the public computers will be open. Each computer will be sanitized after each use.
Longhorn Museum
The Longhorn Museum is open to one family at a time for tours. All interactive exhibits will remain closed including the train and train depot.
City Hall will keep changes that have been made, such as relocation permitting to the front lobby, in order to keep employees, patrons and citizens safe. All full-time employees are back to work as of June 1.
The Pleasanton Emergency Operations Center (EOC) remains open to continue monitoring COVID-19 updates in the city and distributing PPE to local doctors’ offices in need.
Pleasanton Parks and Recreation is currently working on scheduling more recreational and fitness activities for the summer. Keep your eye out for more information as it becomes available.
