Atascosa County received roughly $410,670 in sales tax revenue last month, which is almost 50% less than revenue obtained in June 2019.
“The majority of that is attributed to the decline in business across the county due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” an article by the Pleasanton Express states. ”As for the cities in the county, each saw a steady decline in revenue due to the shutdown as well.”
The Texas Comptroller’s sales tax allocations for June 2020 were based on sales made in April. The allocations account for businesses that file monthly tax reports.
“Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, widespread social distancing requirements were in place across much of the state of Texas in April, leading to the steepest year-over-year decline in allocations since September 2009,” the Pleasanton Express reported.
Atascosa County cities reported the following revenues for June 2020: Charlotte, $19,805; Jourdanton, $77,299; Lytle, $45,607; Pleasanton, $337,305; and Poteet, $33,195.
