The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Housing Choice Voucher program is offering a second round of grants to local public housing authorities with $3,8 million awarded and nearly $55,000 of that split among Crystal City, Pearsall, Carrizo Springs, Dilley and Cotulla.

“All Texans are battling the global pandemic, and they need continued assistance to make it through,” Rep. Will Hurd (R-Texas) said in a post on his official website. “This additional $3.8 million for local housing authorities will help ensure proper housing for low-income families, the elderly and disabled in communities across the 23rd Congressional District.

Under the new round of grants, Crystal City is set to receive $16,295 while $13,947 goes to Carrizo Springs, $13,359 goes to Pearsall, Cotulla will receive $6,752, and Dilley is due $3,376.

“The CARES Act has helped Americans in many ways, from aiding small businesses to increased testing, and it’s good to see it continues living up to what it was meant to do: Care for Americans nationwide,” Hurd said.
