The City of Pleasanton has issued a Notice of Public Hearing on Tax Increase that could ultimately increase property taxes for the 2020 tax year.

The city has proposed a tax rate of $0.499763 per $100, a no new revenue tax rate of $0.492645 per $100, and a voter-approval tax rate of $0.539013 per $100.

The no new revenue rate is for the 2020 tax year that will boost the same amount of property taxes in the 2019 and 2020 tax years. Ultimately, the proposed tax rate being higher than the no new revenue rate indicates the City of Pleasanton wants to boost property taxes for 2020.

Because the proposed tax rate is lower than the voter approval rate, the city doesn’t have to hold an election giving voters the chance to vote for or against the new rate. But locals can contact City Council members or go to a public hearing to share their thoughts.
