The City of Pleasanton has issued a Notice of Public Hearing on Tax Increase, proposing a rate of $0.499763 per $100 valuation.
The no-new-revenue tax rate proposed is $0.492645 per $100 and the proposed voter-approval tax rate is $0.539013.
The no-new-revenue tax rate would apply to the 2020 tax year “that will raise the same amount of property tax revenue for [the] City of Pleasanton from the same properties in both the 2019 tax year and the 2020 tax year,” according to the notice.
At the same time, the voter-approval rate is the highest amount the city can use without requiring a vote from residents.
Since the proposed tax rate is higher than the no-new-revenue tax rate, the city is asking for a boost in property taxes for the 2020 tax year. A hearing that will be open to the public is scheduled for Sept. 17 at 5:30 p.m. at 108 Second St.
