LA PRYOR ISD: Notification of Confirmed Covid-19 Case on Campus

Antonio

La Pryor ISD issued the following announcement.

Dear Parent/Guardian,

In keeping with La Pryor ISD’s school re-opening safety protocols and practices in response to COVID-19, we are notifying all athletic football student families that a student, who was test-confirmed on Wednesday, September 02, 2020, tested positive for COVID-19.

The student has not been present on the Secondary Campus and Athletic Field since Saturday, August 29, 2020. At that time, the student was not presenting symptoms and all safety protocols were followed by our La Pryor ISD staff to ensure the safety and welfare of our students prior to admittance on campus.

This includes:

? Taking all student and staff temperatures

? Asking the required COVID-19 CDC and TEA follow-up questions

? Requiring the use of the mask at all times

? Staying/Standing 6-feet apart from other classmates and/or staff members when possible

Due to FERPA privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the name of the individual.

After careful review with the LPISD COVID-19 Response Team and the local health department, it has been determined that all of the CDC requirements were met and the following actions will occur: the student will be quarantined for 14 days, all areas that the student has used will be deeply disinfected and practice and other activities will continue as planned.

While we do not have reason to believe that those who were not in close contact with the infected individual have reason to be concerned, we ask that you, as always, watch for symptoms of COVID-19.

Any of the following new or unusual symptoms indicate a possible COVID-19 infection:

o Temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher when taken by mouth;

o Sore throat;

o New uncontrolled cough that causes difficulty breathing (or, for students with a chronic allergic/asthmatic cough, a change in their cough from baseline);

o Diarrhea, vomiting, or abdominal pain; or

o New onset of severe headache, especially with a fever

If you or any member of the La Pryor Football community does begin experiencing any of the above-mentioned symptoms in a way that is not typical, we encourage you to contact your physician.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Rachel Lambert, Principal Secondary Campus @ rachel.lambert@lapryor.net or Eliseo Aguero, Athletic Director @ eliseo.aguero@lapryor.net or visit our website at www.lapryor.net website or 830-365-4005.

Sincerely,

Matthew McHazlett, LPISD Superintendent of Schools
