Event Overview
The American Gas Foundation will be publishing a report from a study in January 2021 that examines our nation’s energy system and its ability to prevent, withstand, adapt to, and quickly recover from damage or operational disruption. The study, Building a Resilient Energy Future: How the Gas System Contributes to US Energy System Resilience, found that the gas system supports the overall resilience of the energy system through its inherent, physical, and operational capabilities that enable it to meet the volatile demand profiles resulting from significant system disruptions. Ensuring future energy system resilience will require a careful assessment and recognition of the contributions provided by natural gas local distribution companies (LDCs). Utilities, LDCs, regulators, and policymakers need new frameworks to evaluate system resilience impacts in the energy system transformation to ensure that resilience is not overlooked in the pursuit of decarbonization goals. Through this webinar, AGA members will be better equipped to support the study's outreach activities and communicate the key finding from the report once it is published. A recording of the webinar will be available on the AGA website for future use.
