There were 1,743 students enrolled in Lytle ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 1% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 50.9% of them were boys, and 49.1% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 82.3% of the Lytle ISD total enrollment.

Lytle ISD roughly covers schools within Atascosa County with its main office in Lytle.

Among the five schools in Lytle ISD, Lytle Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 505 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
