There were 13,935 students enrolled in Eagle PASS ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 4.1% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.9% of them were boys, and 48.1% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 97.1% of the Eagle PASS ISD total enrollment.

Eagle PASS ISD roughly covers schools within Maverick County with its main office in Eagle Pass.

Among the 24 schools in Eagle PASS ISD, Eagle Pass High School recorded the highest enrollment of 2,369 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
