There were two American Indian students enrolled in Jourdanton ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 50% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Jourdanton ISD schools welcomed 1,590 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, American Indian students comprised 0.1% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Jourdanton ISD roughly covers schools within Atascosa County and has a main office in Jourdanton.

Among the seven schools in Jourdanton ISD schools, Jourdanton Early Childhood Center recorded the highest enrollment of American Indian students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of one student.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
