Enrollment Analysis: African American students comprised 0.4% of Carrizo Springs CISD schools' student body in 2022-23 school year

There were eight African American students enrolled in Carrizo Springs CISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 27.3% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Carrizo Springs CISD schools welcomed 1,903 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 0.4% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Carrizo Springs CISD roughly covers schools within Dimmit County and has a main office in Carrizo Springs.

Among the four schools in Carrizo Springs CISD schools, Carrizo Springs Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of African American students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of three students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
