There were 433 students enrolled in Charlotte ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 9.1% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.8% of them were boys, and 49.2% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were Hispanic, representing 84.8% of the Charlotte ISD total enrollment.

Charlotte ISD roughly covers schools within Atascosa County with its main office in Charlotte.

Among the three schools in Charlotte ISD, Charlotte Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 207 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
